Glendaruel
Glendaruel is a small and increasingly fragile community in the Cowal Peninsula also known as the Clachan of Glendaruel
This small community of just 188 people lives in a fragile state with many of the local facilities closed, the local hotel and pub closed in 2008 after a court case involving Polish workers. The church was built in 1610 and the archives reveal that the village was thriving for many centuries.
The nearby Dunans Castle is rather splendid mock baronial affair that was damaged by fire and is now only inhabited in one wing.
