Kilmelford is set in a beautiful location to get away form it all and explore the best Argyll has to offer its visitors. Loch Melfort is only a short walk from Ceo Na Mara, providing wonderful coastal walks, bird watching, kayaking and sea fishing. Fresh water fishing is also available in many of the hill lochs surrounding the area, which is also great for hill walking.
This area is well known for its seafood and local produce, so what better excuse for trying out one of those many fantastic local restaurants and hotels. There are lots of things to see and do, with stunning scenery all round, with Ardfern offering horse riding, watersports, a yachting centre and sea cruises out to the islands along with cycle hire. At the end of the Ardfern road you can view or cruise out to the Gulf of Corryvreckan. Arduaine Gardens (NTS) is open to public all year round.
Kilmartin Glen is only 10 miles south of Kilmelford offering plenty of standing stones / buriel mounds to find and explore. This is an area rich in an historical legacy, the Kilmartin House Museum is a popular visitor attraction. Slightly further south is Lochgilphead, the Crinan Canal and the Kintyre Peninsula (Mull of Kintyre). Northwards is Seil Island and the Bridge across the Atlantic, with Oban only a half hour drive away with access to larger shops, a cinema, leisure facilities, a distillery, McCaigs Tower and the ferry terminal to Mull and Iona, Coll, Tiree and Colonsay. Ceo Na Mara has a fantastic central position within Argyll, making it a great holiday location.
