Muir of Ord
Village north of Beauly Firth on railway line and well located to visit North East coast or towards the west.
The village was the result of the railway line north which avoided the coast to make for cheaper laying. It was also the site for various cattle markets for drovers bringing their cattle from the north to sell onward.
Today the village is off the main beaten track with the opening of Kessock Bridge and the main road north bypassing the village.
There is still the old distillery although it look modern now of course with tours etc.
