Aros Castle

Ruined 13th century castle near Salen on the East coast of Mull in ruinous and dangerous state on headland.

Canna House

National Trust owned and home to two wonderful enthusiasts for the Gaelic and western isles renaissance: John Lorne Campbell who owned Canna and his American born and musicicologist Margaret Fay Shaw.

Dun Athad

Originally an Iron Age Dun, now ruined. Also called Dunaidh Castle. Much ruined, but amazing location.

Dunvegan Castle

The Clan MacLeod has had its family seat at Dunvegan Castle since about the 12th century. It remains the seat of the Clan and a castle well worth visiting for its history and excellent state of repair

Moy Castle

Isolated tower castle on south coast of Mull near Lochbuie overlooking the sea. In ruinous state but still impressive overlooking quiet and isolated sandy beach. Sea Eagles often nest in the hillside above the beach.

Duart Castle

Duart Castle (Caisteal Dhubhairt in Scottish Gaelic) is a castle on the Isle of Mull with stunning views across the sound towards Oban. The castle dates back to the 13th century and is the seat of Clan MacLean. The interior is well preserved and is open to the public.

Duntulm Castle

Old ruined castle near Duntulm on Trotternish Peninsula in a fantastic position facing North West over the sea. 

Lews Castle

Fake castle built in 1863 by Sir James Matheson (of Jardine Matheson fame) who resettled crofters to take the land.It has undergone a huge refurbishment.
