Loch Broom to Easter Ross
The seven mountains in this section lie to the north of the A835 road from Garve to Ullapool, and all are accessible from that road, though in the case of one of them the distance to be walked is very long. Ben Wyvis is the lone eastern mountain in this area, rising in solitary state above the dark Garbat Forest, and a prominent feature of the landscape of Easter Ross above the Cromarty Firth. Some distance to the north-west, Am Faochagach is another rather solitary mountain to the north of Loch Glascarnoch. To its north-west are the four peaks of the Beinn Dearg group. The finest of these mountains are Beinn Dearg itself and its neighbour Cona'Mheall, and between them, Coire Ghranda, is a wild and impressive, yet seldom visited corrie. Meall nan Ceapraichean and Eididh nan Clach Geala are the other two peaks of this group. A few kilometres to the north of the Beinn Dearg group is Seana Bhraigh, a remote and isolated mountain at the head of Strath Mulzie, whose finest feature is the grand east-facing Luchd Choire.
