Lindores Abbey

Ruined but once great abbey about a mile from Newburgh on Tay Vuisisit

Lindore Abbey was founded in 1191 and was visited by a number of kings before being sacked by John Know and mob in 1559. Much of the stone was then used in the building of Newburgh.

Its main claim to fame is that it is the first recorded place where whisky is recorded on excise rolls in 1494
